21,500 EUROS FOR AUCTION TOPPER AMAZING BOY FROM THE KEMPENHOEVE

Aug 23, 2023

The fourth edition of OakBarn Dressage Sales was a great success. Never before were such high amounts paid for the foals. "But it's not just about those high prices, we want to offer our customers quality foals for realistic prices," says Eddy Schuurmans. And they have succeeded in doing just that.

It's no secret that Belgian dressage horses are making waves internationally, both in the Grand Prix and in young horse competitions. There was a lot of interest, both from abroad and from Belgium. "We've welcomed many new bidders and customers; it's a good sign that more and more people are finding their way to our auction and appreciating the quality of the collection."

The foal champion from Bocholt, Amazing Boy from the Kempenhoeve (by Vitalis), was sold after a fierce bidding duel for 21,500 euros. In the end, a Belgian buyer came out on top. The breeding from De Kempenhoeve proved to be popular, as Amazing Lady from the Kempenhoeve (by Glock’s Energy) was also sold for a good price. This filly will stay in Belgium as well for 13,000 euros. The last lot that went under the digital hammer last night attracted a lot of interest too. Ultimately, the granddaughter of the Grand Prix mare Athene B, Akitha from the Weyenshof (by For Ferrero), was sold to a Belgian buyer for 12,000 euros.

In addition to buyers from Belgium, foals have been sold to the Netherlands and Germany. "It's very positive that Belgians have also invested in these foals and that not all quality is going abroad. In addition to the more expensive foals, we have also sold several foals at reasonable prices. We believe it's important that both amateurs and professionals can find what they're looking for with us. This year's auction is the best one we have organized so far, and we believe that we can compete in terms of both price and quality with the German and Dutch auctions."

Another online foal auction is planned for next year. "In addition, we are exploring the possibilities for an auction with dressage horses," concludes Eddy Schuurmans on behalf of the organization.
